Silsoe is a picturesque village set in the heart of
Bedfordshire. Located on the old A6 road it is a bustling
village with 130 listed building, including a village lock up.
The most famous of these buildings is Wrest Park, once the
home of the de Grey family, the French style chateau and
gardens are an example of formal early 18th-century design
with the gardens featuring wooded walks and canals.
The village also boasts the church of St James . Made of local
red Sandstone the embattled tower contains three bells and was
rebuilt in 1831 costing £5000. Next door to the church is the
Star and Garter one of two pubs in the village.
